About Parker’s water and your enamel
The Parker Water and Sanitation District draws from Rueter-Hess Reservoir and the deep Denver Basin aquifers. Unlike most American municipal systems, Parker does not add fluoride to its drinking water — and it doesn’t need to. The Denver Basin aquifers naturally deliver approximately 0.9 parts per million of fluoride, very close to the U.S. Public Health Service’s recommended optimal level of 0.7 ppm. Translation: every glass of Parker tap water is quietly helping protect your enamel.
Parker is also known for its hard water — high in calcium and magnesium from the limestone and sandstone formations of the Denver Basin. While safe to drink, hard water can contribute to mineral buildup and surface staining over time. We routinely watch for this during hygiene visits and address it as part of your cleaning.

Parker’s elevation and semi-arid climate (humidity averaging around 51%, with afternoon dips into the 30% range) is a known contributor to xerostomia — dry mouth — especially when combined with caffeine, common medications, or mouth-breathing during sleep. The American Dental Association notes that reduced saliva flow raises cavity risk and contributes to gum inflammation. We discuss hydration habits, dry-mouth strategies, and saliva substitutes routinely — particularly in winter, when indoor heating drops humidity even further.
